Featured Work
The featured work this time around is "The Design Story of Gerald" which comes form the Digital Design Portfolio. This is an animated inforgaphic of the road I traveled to landing my first job as a graphic designer. This story is narrated by yours truely, detailing my interests growing up, which lead to me wanting to become a designer. To begin this project, I had to write a script or narrative, sketch out the storyboards, create the assets for the animation, record the audio from the script, and finally start animating. Below is the final animation (on YouTube), along with the storyboard panel sketches I used to figure out the assets I needed and workout the timing for all the elments I wanted to appear.

Storyboard Panel 1
Open to the St. Louis riverfront with the Gateway Arch and the year slides across the screen.
Storyboard Panel 2
Two images appear on screen, then big red x crosses out the "Real People" image.
Storyboard Panel 3
Titles / logos of cartoon shows appear on screen one by one to match the voiceover narration.
Storyboard Panel 4
Graphic Designer progress bar pops on screen, then date range slides across the screen.
Storyboard Panel 5
Orignal artwork recedes into the background, then date range slides across the screen.
Storyboard Panel 6
Highway signs with career paths enlarge onto the screen, "Graphic Designer" is chosen.

Graphic Designer sign recedes, new date slides across the screen, progress bar fills.
Storyboard Panel 8
"You don't have any experience" drops onto the screen, progress bar depletes, sun starts to set.
Storyboard Panel 9
New date slides across the screen as the background or sky darkens.
Storyboard Panel 10
Sky has turned to night, the progress bar is flashing red.
Storyboard Panel 11
The sun rises as logos / icons emerge from the background.
Storyboard Panel 12
Sun is high in the sky and the progress bar reaches 100%.
